2. All of TIME magazine is produced 100% computer-to-plate. TIME subscribes to SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) standards.
3. Magazine specifications: Trim size 8" x 101/2" (203mm x 267mm), saddle-stitched, printed on 30 lb. #5 groundwood body stock and 60 lb. #5 groundwood cover stock.
4. Only PDF/X1a files accepted.
- Provide 10 digital proofs (color or B&W), which represents the final digital file; for color guidance on press/digital, press, or off-press proofs that meet SWOP specifications.
- Acceptable media include 100 MB Zip, 1 GB Jaz disk, CD-ROM or WAM!NET. Only one ad per file.
- All high-resolution images and fonts must be included when the PDF/X1a file is saved.
- Images must be SWOP (CMYK or Grayscale), TIFF or EPS between 200 and 400 dpi. No RGB or JPEG images. Do not nest EPS file into other EPS files. Do not embed ICC Profiles within images.
- Fonts must be Type 1 fonts—no TrueType fonts or font substitutions.
- Total area density should not exceed SWOP 300% TAC
- All required image trapping must be included in the file(s).
- Right-reading, portrait mode, 100% size, no rotations.
- Include standard trim, bleed and center marks in all separations, 1/2" outside trim (no marks included in the "live" image area).
- Maximum dimensions, including all marks, color bars and agency info: single page = 11" wide by 17" high; spread page = 22" wide by 17" high
- Include a 6 mm 5%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% C, M, Y, K patch strip for quality control, which may be downloaded an EPS file containing this strip from our Web site.

5. Live material for bleed units: Page and less-than-page units: 3/8"(10mm) safety from top, bottom and each side. Spread units: 3/8" (10 mm) safety from top and bottom 5/8" (16 mm) safety from outside edges
1/8" (3 mm) total gutter safety (1/16" each side)On facing pages (spread), engraver's marks must be in exact center as a guide in positioning spread. Register marks, film ID labels, crop marks or other marks not intended to print must be located 1/2" outside magazine trim. Publisher reserves the right to crop 3/16" (5 mm) from either side of full page, 2-column film and 1-column film to compensate for variation in trim size.

7. General information: All digital data, film, proofs and progs will be destroyed seven (7) months after the last issue date unless TIME has received written instruction to return immediately after insertion or to hold the material for a specific future date (not to exceed one year from the last issue date).Publisher reserves the right to attempt to match second colors by using process colors.Reproduction quality is at the advertiser's risk if publisher's specifications are not met or if material is received after closing date, even if on extension. Queries concerning reproduction should be submitted within three weeks of issue date.

SPECIAL AVAILABILITIES
1. Bleed: 15% premium on space price of any unit exceeding non-bleed dimensions 7" x 10", or any unit bleeding to edge of page. No extra charge for bleed across the gutter of spread units.
2. Third cover: Charged at the four-color, full-page rate, regardless of coloration. Positioning is not guaranteed. Bleed charged when applicable.
3. Ad gatefolds: Single gatefolds are available in both full-page and half-page units. Double gatefolds are available in full-page units only. Advertiser must purchase both sides of gate leaf.

5. U.S. National split runs: Available on appropriate cycles. Premium charges available on request.By geographic area: Advertisers buying National circulation can split copy along state lines and/or in the Group I and Group II Spot Market areas.By printing-plant location: National advertisers can run different advertisements by plant location. Available in all units of one column or more for national.By demographic edition: Full pages only. Four-color national advertisers may run different copy in Demographic editions.
6. U.S. Regional edition split runs: Advertisers buying a Regional Edition can split copy along state lines and/or in the Group I Spot Market areas within that Regional edition. Premium charges available on request.
7. International split runs: Available on a limited basis. Please contact your TIME sales representative.
8. Standby space:A limited amount of standby space is available at reduced rates. Positioning requests are not accepted with standby orders. TIME cannot guarantee to deliver any specific edition or combination of editions within a specific period of TIME. Standby is not available for cards, coupon ads, inserts, special sections, split runs or special colorations. Contact your TIME Sales Representative for details.
9. Fast close TIME National: Fast close is accepted in every issue on an as- available basis for B&W, 4C and convertible full-page and spread advertisements. Closing for all materials is the Thursday morning preceding the Monday on-sale date. Contact your TIME sales representative for details. TIME Business and Spot Market editions: Available on request. Contact your TIME Sales Representative for details.
10. Insert cards: Minimum size: 5" x 3 1/2 "; maximum size: 6" x 7". Minimum of one page B&W of supporting space required. Price quoted on request. A 5% margin must be allowed in the delivery of insert cards.
11. Sheen inks/5th color: Available by special arrangement. Rates quoted on request.
12. Premium charges: Premium charges for gatefolds, split runs, tip-ons, inserts and other special availabilities are not commissionable and do not earn discounts.
13. Fixed-position orders: Accepted only for fourth cover. Makegoods will not be issued if positioning requests are not met.
