Historically speaking, Making of America issues outperform TIME's average newsstand sales:
- Thomas Jefferson sold an estimated 208,000 copies, or 35% above the 2004 year to date average.
- Benjamin Franklin sold 205,024 copies, or 22% above the 2003 average
- Lewis & Clark sold 216,822 copies, or 22% above the 2002 average
