Taylor Gray was named TIME's Associate Publisher/Marketing in 2002. He is responsible for new business development, advertising sales strategy, research, new media, events and promotional planning.
He was previously President of the TIME Magazine Interactive Group, overseeing the publishing and editorial strategy fro TIME.com, On-magazine.com, and LIFE magazine.com. Under his direction, the group has tripled its user base and traffic. TIME.com also attracted several new, premier advertisers including WorldCom, Ford, British Airways and Nextel.
Gray also served as Marketing Director of TIME Magazine February 1997 - October 2002. He has played a key role in shaping and communicating TIME's brand image to advertisers and marketers as well as consumers.
For TIME's 75th anniversary in March 1998, Gray staged an event that "without question," stated the New York Times, "was the party of the year." The event at Radio City Music Hall was an extraordinary mix of 1,200 of the century's newsmakers and one hundred TIME cover subjects attended. In 1997 and 1999, Adweek Magazine named TIME #1 on its list of the hottest magazines in America. In 1998-1999, TIME's ad page leadership was enhanced by the "TIME 100: People of the Century" series of profiles.
Gray joined TIME from the Reader's Digest Association, where he was Director of U.S. Magazine Research Services since March 1996. He previously served as the company's Advertising Research Director since joining the company in December 1992. Prior to joining Reader's Digest, Gray spent six years at U.S. News & World Report, working in a variety of positions including Marketing Manager, Sales Representaive and research Director.
A graduate of Brown University, Gray currently resides in Old Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife and two children.
